Q:
When will Kathryn Kittinger be in Sarasota, FL or Monterey, CA next?
A: See Photo Schedule/Events
Q:
What should we wear or bring?
A: Take a look at Shoogie Boogies Online Portrait Gallery to get ideas on photo attire. For family shoots and sibling shoots, Kathryn Kittinger recommends wearing complimentary solid colors or patterns.  Competing colors and patterns can detract from the best of photos.   She also suggests wearing classic/timeless clothing and accessories that you will enjoy looking at years down the road.

Babies and little kids always look so cute in hats or bonnets.  You may want to bring along a hat you can put on for a few shots.   Also, your child's favorite blanket, small classic toy or even a simple flower often makes for great candid pictures.

Many of Kathryn Kittinger's very best photos were taken against a simple white wall, wood fence or on a solid colored baby blanket.  Most of her work captures the personality of children, rather than the focusing on props or the environment.

Q:
What time of day if best for photographing?
A: Kathryn Kittinger is experienced and works well in many lighting conditions.  If it is sunny, her assistant holds a diffuser to help block the direct sun from your child’s face.  If it is overcast, the clouds act as a natural diffuser for her work.  If the weather is too misty, too dark or rainy, she will reschedule your appointment.

Also, when selecting your appointment time, make sure to consider your child’s normal routine. A well rested, well fed baby or child makes for happy photo shoots, happy parents and great photo memories.
Q:
Does Kathryn Kittinger only photograph children?
A: Kathryn Kittinger specializes in photographing infants, toddlers and big kids, along with their family members.  However, she is a great deal of experience photographing all ages.  She always says, “If you can photograph children, you can photograph almost anyone.”
Q:
Does Shoogie Boogies have a studio?
A: Yes, we have a gallery, garden & gift shop, located downtown Sarasota, FL, located in the center of Towles Court.  Shoogie Boogies is not your "traditional" studio with large intimidating lights, but rather Shoogie Boogies is a quaint courtyard with tea tables, wooden fences, stools & timeless toys.   Infants & children are photographed in the garden courtyard, using natural lighting & natural settings.   Kathryn Kittinger also travels on location for many photo shoots, ie. customer's homes, the beach, etc...    See Shoogie Boogies Portrait Gallery.

Some of Kathryn Kittinger's work is also on display in Sarasota at The John Carl Spa, Zak's Steakhouse, 516 Burns Restaurant, Canvas Cafe, Drunken Poet on Main St. & The Lil' Boutique on St. Armand's.

For Monterey, CA customers...Kathryn Kittinger will travel to your home or outdoor location of your choice.   See Travel Schedule

Q:
Does Kathryn Kittinger take black and white or sepia toned photos?
A: Kathryn Kittinger photographs digitally &  can convert any of the photos taken at your shoot to black and white or sepia tone.  She recommends selecting high contrast photos for black and white conversion, such as a white shirt against a darker background or a dark shirt against a lighter background. See the three color options.

Q:
What if we want a Private shoot in our backyard, but it doesn’t have fancy landscaping & running waterfalls?

Q:
What if we need to cancel our Private shoot?
A:

48 Hour Cancellation Policy for Photo Shoot:

Please cancel your photo shoot 48 hours or more before your appointment to avoid having a minimum $175 fee charged to your credit card.  While we try to call or email to remind our clients of their appointments, we still plan for the client to keep their appointment time, unless they call to cancel 48hrs or more in advance. If Kathryn Kittinger needs to cancel within the 48hr window, your rescheduled photo shoot will be free.

No Cancellation/No Shows - will be charged $175 plus any transit time will be prorated at $175/hour.

Q: What if our child does not cooperate the day of our Private shoot?
A: If Kathryn Kittinger is not able to take any photographs of your child, she will prorate the sitting fee for the time spent on location. To date, this has never happened.  :)

Private Photo Shoot Requirements - During a private photo shoot, a parent or adult representative is required to accompany children at all times. Kathryn Kittinger and Shoogie Boogies will not be responsible for a child’s safety at any point before, during or after your photo shoot.  In fact, we recommend that a second adult attend your shoot to assist your child with the photo shoot, while you watch after your child’s safety.
